Sophie

This gal is a nine year old Sheltie mix. She is sweeter than honey and will snuggle her way into your heart. Sophie loves to play in the yard, go for plenty of walks and would be up to cuddles if that is what you want to do. This beauty ended up in Save Me Rescue because of her senior owner was no longer able to care for her and was forced to surrender her. Sophie is in perfectly good health and is still quite energetic, not to mention adorable. Her big heart is open to finding a furever family and she is still searching. She is ideally looking for someone to give her belly rubs, someone to take her to the park to play and someone to go on nice strolls with. Even someone to brush her pretty fur. Sophie is trained well and would not mind a canine companion or a feline one as well. She just wants her story to end with a big happy smile on someone special's face.

Sugar

This sweet girlie has a bit of a story to tell. She is so wonderful but awhile back had a stroke of bad luck. You see, Sugar used to live with two other cats named Sally and Casper in a house with some humans. The house was set on fire and the cats got stuck in the fire. That is when Sugar's luck took a swoop and she got some good luck. A caring fireman saved the three cats who unfortunately were all injured in this awful event. They were put into the care of a local shelter who helped heal their wounds. After a little while, Sugar needed more medical care than the shelter could provide and one of the Helping Homeless Pets rescues stepped in. Forgotten Ones rescue offered to take all three cats and pay for Sugar's treatments. Now, Sugar is healthy again and in foster with loving foster parents. She only needs one more bit of good luck to find a furever home. Sugar loves to show her affection for a person by cuddling and she adores to get brushed. She is just a little sweetie pie who will complete a home.

Aniko

This boy is somewhat of a mystery. Aniko used to wander through Montreal's New Rosemont sector and he did this for an estimated few years. Only Aniko knows for how long, where he has been and what he did. Unfortunately, this boy did pick up feline AIDS during his years of wandering. Come winter 2014, he was in utterly horrible condition however he did not let anyone near him. Lo and behold, in the summer Aniko came across a very kind woman with a big heart. She gave him food and a bed on her balcony. This went on until fall when the woman worried about him having to spend another bitter cold winter in the great outdoors. She contacted the Animal Rescue Network who took him in without hesitation. They showed Aniko that there are many kind people out there and soon, he showed them his true nature of sweet, loving and more. He can cuddle and doesn't mind being picked up. Aniko is even good with kids, who would have thought? Now, all he needs is a home that he will stay in for the rest of his years and a furever family that will allow him to forget his awful adventures.

Violet

Now who would name a girl Violet when she is all white? This adorable girl was living in a breeding facility in very poor condition. Loyal Rescue found her with barely any fur left, a skin infection, a thyroid condition, underweight and they later on discovered diabetes that wasn't being treated. Violet is lucky that a good Samaritan contacted Loyal to bring her to them. Now, after a long journey, she is healthy again. She has a special talent of unconditional love and love is all that she asks in return. Violet loves all people and bonds closely with one person in particular. She loves to walk and looks forward to her walks every day even though she cannot go very far. Violet is absolutely wonderful but she does not want to be forgotten again. She is vocal to remind her people that she loves them and thanks them for keeping her happy and healthy. The last step to her journey are finding some people that will call her theirs forever and ever.

Buck

Buck is a boy with the best personality you could ask for. He is a very handsome greyhound and super easygoing. You don't have to worry about his big brown eyes fooling you because he is such a good boy. He's even good with cats. His nose will sniff out a trail into your heart because who could resist loving Buck? Buck is currently being fostered at the very wonderful Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program. He is full of life and love and will make a family complete. He is great for a first time dog owner although he would also do very well with an experienced owner. He is just easygoing, as long as he gets to love someone for the rest of his years.

Wink

I'm This beautiful boy is still a baby. Wink is a Cocker spaniel mix who is full of energy. Typical puppy style he plays all day and cuddles all night. He is still being trained and is showing good progress. Wink does not have full eyesight in his left eye but if you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell. He simply adores being the center of attention and loves fiercely. Wink is searching for a furever family and he is looking for people who are active, love to play and maybe even like sports. It would also be ideal to have a canine or human companion during the day. He is a healthy, happy boy currently in foster at the Ottawa Dog Rescue.

Stella

This girlie is not so small and her heart fits her size perfectly! She is a strong young Rottweiler and super duper playful. She responds well to training and loves her treats. She is in search of her furever family. Stella warms up to people quickly and will become very affectionate. With other dogs, she usually does very well and would love a doggy brother or sister. Stella just adores going on car rides, almost as much as playing. She knows that soon she will find a family she can call her own, even if she loves her foster parents at B.A.R.K. She wants a family that will play ball for hours and go on fun walks and take her in the car places and cuddle... You know, all that fun stuff!

Eden

This girl is a Sheltie x Collie and she may be blind but she will find her way into your heart. Eden is on her way into foster at the Adopt-a-Pet-Rescue as she was at a high kill shelter. She spent most of her life on a chain and can sometimes get defensive but otherwise is a sweet little girl. Eden is not yet up for adoption because she must first get settled in foster. She was most likely blind for most of her life as she is quite comfortable getting around. Eden is about six years old. She is looking for a furever home that can properly care for her and will lovingly show her how dogs should live. Walks, playing and parks will be new to Eden although there's no doubt she will love them. There's a bright future ahead for this girlie.

Blossom, Carman and Thai

These three pups are making their way into the world! At eight weeks, they are babies who play all day every day... except for when they sleep, cuddle and train. These guys are lab x Great Pyreneese meaning they will grow to be very big. They pounce at life with both paws outstretched and gaze at it with their big, lovable doggy smiles. Happy as can be, all they need now is to leave foster for a forever home. Three furever homes are difficult to find but they'll do it. They are very smart and listen well. If trained properly, they can do many tricks. The girlies, Blossom and Carman, are patched white and black where as the little boy, Thai, is mostly black with a few white dots. These love bugs are currently in foster at the Renewed Life Animal Rescue.

Belle

Belle has been looking for a furever home for a long time. She is a beautiful senior cat who is currently at the Animal Rescue Network. Belle is a silly kitty because she enjoys talking a lot, telling stories in little meows as she follows people around. She only wants cuddles and to sit in someone's arms, to be loved. This love bug has the sweetest green eyes that will have a certain special someone wrapped around her little paws. Belle wants to end her tiring search for a family and hopefully it will end soon so that she can spend the rest of her years wrapped in arms of love.

Honey

Meet Honey, a sweetheart who will wiggle into your heart with her big brown eyes. She is a tad shy at first but she will warm up to you with time. Until recently, she lived in a puppy mill. The Canadian Shar Pei Rescue took her under their wing and got her into a loving foster home. She is being trained and learning to be a happy dog. Honey is doing exceptionally well with a bit of patience and is on her way to a real dog life, the one with long walks and cuddles. She is looking for a forever home, one that is dog friendly, patient and loving. This girly just adores playing, whether it is a game or fooling around with another dog of any size. Honey is going to continue to blossom into a beautiful, happy-nature pup.

Chance

The Animal Advocates Society has multiple rescue methods and one particular kind of rescue is quite unique and special. They call it the moonlight rescue. If you are like me and have not heard of this before, let me explain. Step 1: there is a dog chained up, locked up or penned up in a small space being abused mentally (and possibly physically) with no attention and barely enough food. Step 2: call the SPCA. The BC SPCA is not up to par and as long as there is food, water and shelter, they 'cannot' (more likely will not) do anything. Step 3: wait until moonlight and take the dog. Yes, it is illegal to kidnap a dog however the AAS will never leave a dog to be abused if they can do something about it. Quite frankly, the families left without a dog have learnt their lesson.

This is the outline of Chance's story. Chance is an older dog who spent his life up until his rescue on a chain in a lonely, dirty yard. He got fed a bit and not well when he was. A pitiful life it was, it was more like mere existence. He was out in negative forty to plus thirty degrees, never being let inside. He even howled and whined most nights to be loved. Sadly, the SPCA said they could do nothing. Then the AAS stepped in. After a moonlight rescue to his new foster home, this old boy was given his name Chance for his new chance at life. Once in his new foster home- which was equipped with multiple resting places, a bin of toys in every room, fully dog-proofed and a vast array of bones everywhere- he showed his true lovable nature. A spark had ignited in his spirit and Chance lit up brighter than any Christmas tree full of happiness, love, joy and any positive emotion you can imagine. The vet assessed Chance to say that other than some minor issues caused by starvation, Chance was quite healthy. He is currently in foster, learning how to be an inside dog (and catching on fast). He is loving it.

Henry

This kitty cat has had a change of luck recently and his world has been flipped upside down... in a good way of course! This cutie was abandoned by his previous family. Scared to death on the streets, Henry was picked up by Annex Cat Rescue. The volunteers quickly discovered his friendly side as Henry is quite affectionate. Now healthy, happy and in a warm foster home, this boy is ready for a furever family. Henry may be shy at first but don't let that fool you as he is adorable and lovable if you are patient and sweet talk him.

Chester

Chester is a chocolate-colored, long-haired wiener dog. In other words, a little brown Dachshund from the Canadian Dachshund Rescue Ontario. He loves furiously and is an overall easy-going boy. He adores cuddling, walking, kissing, playing and meeting new friends, two-legged and four-legged alike. Chester has a little bit of anxiety when left alone for hours. He will complain if you leave him and will not be destructive but needs a brother or sister to keep him company. He'll let you know that he will miss you therefore apartment living is not suitable for this guy but he will never be destructive. He just adores being surrounded with people and dogs, sometimes even cats. Chester is not high-energy but is in search of a family who will provide him with the mental stimulation and loving care he needs. He will undoubtedly love this family back and make them feel special. Chester will be worth it.
Canadian Dachshund Rescue

Pheonix

This Great Dane has the energy to outrun an army but Pheonix is so loving that you wouldn't know it. She needs to romp and run and go on long walks. She also plays rough. Her foster mom hopes that her adoptive family will have a brother or sister for Pheonix who plays her way and can be her best-friend. Phoenix is quite outgoing, loving to be the center of attention and bonds quickly. She really is a love bug!

Snoop

This girly is a twelve year old shih-tzu with a hint of poodle. Despite her age, she is pretty energetic and friendly. Snoop is in foster at Tiny Paws Dog Rescue Canada and she is loving life. The only thing she is missing now is a forever family. She does some basic tricks and she is very well behaved. She also adores belly rubs and sleeping in the big bed. Snoop just loves cuddling on the couch. She has a history of digestion problem and is on a prescription food and is fine now. Snoop is a happy little friend that just wants unconditional love.

Tiny Paws Dog Rescue

Peaches

This English Mastiff is full of cuddles and kisses. She was diagnosed with a partial ACL tear, which is a tear in the ligament of her knee. The surgery is expensive and the recovery is extremely tough on the owner. Peaches' loving previous owner was heartbroken that she could not afford the surgery and was grief stricken when she had to give Peaches up to the Paws United Dog Rescue. The rescue welcomed this love bug with open arms. Peaches comes from a loving home and is such a happy dog. She is currently preparing for surgery and afterwards will need a lot of attention, down time and medication. She is in a foster home where there are no other dogs to tempt her to play and she is being spoiled by her foster parents. She is also searching for a furever home who will be patient with her, help her heal and love her. She has lots of practice with cuddles and she is quite content sitting on the couch with you.

Bijou

The word Bijou is French for jewel. Bijou is the perfect name for this wonderful girl. She is beautiful, full of energy, smart, loves challenges and has a big heart. She is approximately one and a half. When she first arrived at Speaking of Dogs Rescue, they noticed that she was limping on her back leg. It turned out that she had a malformed bone. With some surgery, this was corrected painlessly. She healed beautifully and the vet gave her the green light to sports and being as active as she pleases. For Bijou, this was priceless as she thrives off of playing all day every day. Not too long after her surgery, Bijou was adopted but the family could not provide her with the mental and physical stimulation she needed. Unfortunately, it was not the right fit therefore Bijou was brought back to Speaking of Dogs Rescue. Twenty pounds of terrier love, Bijou does chase cats. This jewel will complete someone special's necklace of a family. It has to be the right fit, like Cinderella's shoe. There is hope for this dog to have a forever home.

Little Man and Miss Bailey

What has eight legs, two heads, weighs twenty pounds total and is so adorable you smile uncontrollably? Answer: this bonded pair of chihuahuas! Little Man is the long haired male and Miss Bailey is the short-haired female. They were rescued from a shelter where they had spent 7 months and needed medical care. Their former family had moved away and could not bring them. Because they each weigh ten pounds, they were smaller than most of the dogs and very stressed out. Now that they are in foster care, they have healed successfully and are so happy you wouldn't even know they used to be unhappy. Little Man has a talent for cuddling, he was made for giving kisses and his favorite spot in the world is on someone's lap. Little Man doesn't like to go in his crate unless Miss Bailey goes in first. Such a gentleman. Little Man is also very loyal, he likes to follow his person around and will get a tad jealous if another dog interferes with his lap time. Miss Bailey is the most happy little girl. She prances around and gets especially excited when its dinnertime. She loves playtime with her Little Man. She really is a little princess and Little Man is her prince. Bailey is also a Daddy's girl and will climb into the big bed in the middle of the night, her body under the covers like a person. Bailey gets stressed quite easily so a home with a calm, structural environment is best for these two. They would do best in a home with no small children as well. They are two happy souls that love to love.

Cookie

Her foster family thinks Cookie is a husky x shepherd and approximately one or two years old. Her time was up at a shelter when she was brought into a foster home of the Animal Guardian Society, part of the Helping Homeless Pets rescue. At first, Cookie is timid but she warms up to people very fast with a bit of encouragement, soft talk, patience and treats. People must be calm, gentle and kind around her because she can be wary of new people, places and things. Once she warms up to you, you're golden because this good looking dog is incredibly intelligent. She has a lot of potential in obedience, agility or scent detection. She learns very fast, practices hard and can very possibly become a skilled partner. When Cookie came into rescue, she was very underweight. While she is very food-motivated, she is also worried about eating around other dogs. She is learning that mealtime is a regular thing as well as toys, a soft bed, walks and love. She is slowly understanding that it is going to be there every day. People who are high-strung, loud and move fast or suddenly make her nervous so she needs a home without children and with experienced owners. Another calm and confident canine or feline companion would be great. She really is a sweetheart who could fill your heart with doggy love.

Roxie

This sweet girl is 38 pounds of happiness. A little ray of sunshine, she is a German Shepherd x Rottweiler. She is pretty laid back but does have some minor issues. Roxie does not do very well home alone and would much rather prefer going for a car ride because she loves car rides. Who wouldn't? Spending time with your person and watching the world go by? As well, she needs an owner who had previous experience with Rotties or at least large dogs. She is mostly housebroken, the occasional mishap. She is crated and up to date on her shots. She is a very healthy 2 1/2 year old gal. She is good with other dogs but cannot be with children under 10 because of her size and strength. A requirement for Roxie is a six foot tall fenced-in yard. She will bolt if she is given the chance. She is currently in foster with Loyal Rescue just loving life. Her foster dad is giving her lots of love because she just adores cuddling on the couch giving tons of kisses.

Stanley

Stanley is a black pug full of life was picked up by Pugalug back in January 2013. He was diabetic and a little old. He was also shy but still sweet. His wonderful foster mom and vet switched his medication in hopes to start stabilizing. As he got treated, he came out of his shell slowly and opened up to his many foster siblings and mom. They soon discovered that he is completely blind. Poor Stanley was very lost once the snow melted. His diabetes still refused to stabilize through the months but Stanley managed to roll with the ups and downs of his blood sugar levels. He also later on got a few teeth removed and started playing tug of war more with his foster brothers. Stanley learned to deal with his blindness thanks to all of the commotion his foster brothers and sisters make. He walks slowly and prefers a fenced-in backyard but doesn't mind a patient walk through the park. As he continues being a medical mystery due to continuous gaining weight and his diabetes that refuse to stabilize, he also needs eye drops because he won't produce tears. He did reveal his pug-like love for cuddles, kisses and lounging in the sun. He also makes funny sounds when you scratch his butt and will greet you with a wagging tail. In all, he is exceptionally lovable and will give plenty of smiles and kisses. Because of his medical issues, he is not yet up for adoption but everyone has their fingers crossed for soon. He is so special and has a beautiful little spirit. He  never stops smiling. He belongs in a very lucky and very special family.

Kermit

Kermit is a Greyhound from the Maritime Greyhound adoption Program. This program takes in greyhounds who have retired from racing and want to live the rest of their life like normal dogs. They go into wonderful foster homes and once they are adopted, there is an online training course they follow. Not that these fellas need all the training, they are just super energetic. Kermit is no exception. He is outgoing both in personality and in looks. He is big and friendly but also beautiful. Kermit has big brown eyes that will melt you into a puddle of love. His head is black with a white stripe down the middle. The rest of his body is unusual black and white markings like his head. This gorgeous boy has boatloads of energy and love. He needs someone to play with for the rest of his life.

Shelby and Dexter

These two boys came from a loving home who could unfortunately no longer afford them. Shelby, a six year old beagle and Dexter, a four year old husky/shepherd are two loving souls. When brought into foster, Shelby was put alone in a different home. It turns out that he could not cope well without a companion during the day. Dexter had to stay with Shelby which he did not mind and the two are very happy dogs.If Shelby gets adopted into a home with other dogs, he would be fine without Dexter. Dexter is a touch shy but he warms up fast and this beautiful boy will be perfect as long as there is somewhere he can be off his leash. Shelby is typical loving beagle material: loving to be by your side and will follow her nose during a walk in the park. Dexter is your playful guy: happy, curious, likes to run and play. They are both gorgeous and a pair of wonderful hearts. Two peas in a pod, these guys are waiting for a new home.

Hogan

This little hound is finally on the last step of his journey! Hogan is a Scandinavian hound. He has a creamy white coat, floppy ears and big brown eyes. Hogan was rescued with 25 other dogs. These dogs were used for racing but were chained up most of the time and fed scarcely. After three weeks in a shelter, the Friendly Giants Dog Rescue picked him up. Shortly after that, Hogan was tested positive for heartworm. Hogan did not give up and neither did his foster family. It took many months, an extremely difficult and long process. In the end Hogan beat the odds and the treatment was successful. He is now a completely healthy boy. Now, he is learning how to live indoors, how to play and how to love. This hound is making new human, canine and feline friends, all of whom seem to love his bubbling energy levels and warm personality. If it isn't his doggy smile that catches you, its his love. All that this boy needs now in life is a family who will love him for the rest of his life. He needs a furever home of his own. Someone who will run with him and someone who he can give lots of kisses. Maybe someone to spoil him! Yeah, he'd love one of those! Hogan, like any dog, loves to be loved and love someone back.

Tweek and Simon

Tweek and Simon were in the local pound for over 10 weeks when they were about 4 months old. The Adopt-A-Pet Rescue was over-full with nowhere to put them and no one to take them. The two were almost out of luck when thankfully this very kind lady offered to foster them. The two brothers had their lives spared. They have been waiting for way too long to find a forever home. They are adults now and very handsome little cats indeed. They will definitely paw and purr their way into your heart. No questions asked, these kitties are wonderful!

Snoopy

Who is 60 pounds of lovable lab and boxer mix? Who is 6 months old and loves to snuggle? The answer to both of those questions is Snoopy! Snoopy is like any puppy should be: happy, excited, sweet and learning how the world works. All he needs now is a furever home. He loves to play, smell and meet people. He is still in the midst of being trained and socialized. This big boy absolutely adores to play and really needs it because he has so much energy, like any puppy would. He needs someone who can give him the time to walk, socialize, run and most importantly (in my opinion at least) cuddle. Nobody can resist those big golden eyes or those floppy ears, they're just so cute. Snoopy is just sniffing out somebody to love with that big, wet nose of his!

Noelle

This little fluff ball will pounce onto your heart. Noelle the cat, got her name from the workers at the Etibicoke Humane Society. Around Christmas 2013, during an ice storm, she was abandoned on the shelter steps. That does not stop her from stealing everyone's hearts, though. Apparently, nothing stops her. Noelle has lost some weight and now loves to greet everyone with some purrs. She is currently in foster care, just waiting for someone to take her home and cuddle on the couch. Her black and white spots with big green eyes will make you melt. She needs someone to help her through her twilight years.

Tucker

Tucker is a six year old lab with deep brown eyes and a big pink tongue. He looks at you with his head a little tilted and has that big doggy smile that nobody can resist. When he was picked up by the Renewed Life Animal Rescue, he was a little fat, too. Tucker is a very happy dog but was
unfortunate in his previous ownership, living with an awful person. As much as it hurts me to say it, this wonderful lab had his tail cut off because he was wagging it too much. Tucker was brought to Ontario to these new, wonderful people who have big hearts. Needless to say, Tucker is off to a better life. He also had another problem, the poor boy had partial crutiate tears on both of his back legs. That means that there are small tears in the ligaments of his knees, left untreated this can be dangerous but luckily Tucker is in good hands. Tucker went into surgery at the beginning of February for his left and has since been recovering. He is in foster care now waiting for his leg to heal before he can go into surgery for his right. In foster care he is proving to be a remarkable boy, very friendly with a good-nature. Like all dogs, he loves to lick your fingers and play. The Renewed Life Animal Rescue is working hard fundraising for the means to pay for Tucker's second surgery. In the near future, Tucker is hopefully going to be running around playing fetch and living the life he deserves.
